Professor Dilly Anumba is Professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the University of Sheffield Medical School, and Consultant Obstetrician Gynaecologist with Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, with a private practice at Claremont.

He also holds additional specialist qualifications in Maternal and Fetal Medicine.

He moved to Sheffield to take up a Consultant post after completing his specialist and research training in Newcastle upon Tyne in 2001.

Professor Anumba runs Pregnancy Care clinics and services including specialised clinics in Prenatal Diagnosis and Fetal Therapy, Prematurity Prevention, and Maternal Medicine. He has particular expertise in ultrasonography and is the pioneer and Course Director of the highly popular Sheffield Fetal Biometry Courses that attract national and international doctor delegates from Ireland, the Middle East and Africa.

He has published over 100 peer-reviewed journal papers and abstracts in top medical journals, and book chapters on topics relating to pregnancy care and Women’s health issues.  Some of his work has explored the factors that influence the bond between a mother and her yet-to-born child.  Professor Anumba is highly research active and leads many funded research projects investigating several aspects of human pregnancy, including novel techniques to predict and thus mitigate premature birth.

He serves on several professional and research bodies in Women’s Health and is reviewer to major national and international reproductive health journals, research boards and charities.
