Training & background:


Dr Reena Sidhu is a Consultant Gastroenterologist and a Honorary Senior Clinical lecturer at the University of Sheffield, with a private practice at Claremont.

She qualified from medical school in Dublin, Ireland and completed her specialist training in Sheffield which included a period of research and was awarded an MD with the University of Sheffield.

Dr Sidhu is currently the lead for the Sheffield double balloon enteroscopy service and also provides the capsule endoscopy service, both of which are established regional services which have won national awards.  She is also the first author of the British Society of Gastroenterology (national) guidelines and a co-author on the European guidelines (ESGE) on capsule endoscopy and enteroscopy.  She is a permanent faculty member at the Lumley Castle capsule endoscopy course and runs a national training course for nurses on capsule endoscopy with a clinical research fellow under her supervision.

Dr Sidhu has been an invited speaker at several national gastroenterology meetings as a national small bowel endoscopy expert.

She is one of the most published on small bowel research in the UK and was awarded the Hopkins Endoscopy Prize by the British Society of Gastroenterology in 2012, being the first ever female gastroenterologist to be recognised with this prize.

Dr Sidhu sees private patients on Tuesday evenings at Claremont.  She sees patients with most gastroenterology problems including patients with heartburn/reflux, IBS and diarrhoea or constipation, inflammatory bowel disease and patients requiring gastroscopy or colonoscopy.
