Hand Therapy

Our expert Hand Therapist, Samantha Cook is available to assess and support you in the management of your hand condition. This service is available to patients following surgery or those with an on-going hand condition or long-term injury.

Our Hand Therapist is able to tailor a specific exercise programme to suit your requirements and address the issues that you may have following injury or post-surgery. This may include improving hand mobility and function and the reduction of pain and swelling.

Hand Therapy may be of benefit to sufferers of many different conditions of the hand and wrist, including:

  • Osteoarthritis of the hands and wrists
  • Fractures of the hand and wrist
  • Rheumatoid Arthritis
  • Tendon injuries
  • Nerve injuries
  • Repetitive Strain Injury (more commonly known as RSI)
  • De Quervain’s Tendonitis
  • Post-operative rehabilitation (e.g. for Dupuytren’s Contracture or Trapeziectomy)

Our Hand Therapy Service offers a range of different interventions, including:

  • Assessment of the hand and wrist
  • Splinting
  • Oedema (swelling) management
  • Manual therapy
  • Scar management
  • Exercise and strengthening programmes
