Training & background:
Mr Quhill is a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital, with a private practice at Claremont.
Mr Quhill was appointed in 2010 with a special interest in Cataract, Medical Retina (Macular Degeneration, Retinal Vein Occlusion, Diabetic Retinopathy and Inherited Retinal Disease) and Ocular inflammation (Uveitis)
He qualified from the University of Birmingham in 1999 and undertook basic training in Hereford, Oxford and West Midlands.
Mr Quhill has completed 3 Medical Retinal Fellowships in Birmingham, Wolverhampton and Moorfields Eye Hospital, London.
Mr Quhill offers the full range of Ophthalmic Services at Claremont and runs a friendly and informal clinic for his patients.
Mr Quhill was one of the first Ophthalmologists to report on the dangers to eyesight in children resulting from the misuse of high-powered handheld laser pens bought online, and has led the campaign for better regulation on the sale and use of these devices in collaboration with Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents, Royal College of Ophthalmologists, Public Health England and Civil Aviation Authority. He is a member of the UK Laser Working Group and has advised the UK Government presenting evidence at a Whitehall meeting on this important public health matter. He has had numerous appearances on TV including BBC Breakfast, Good Morning Britain, Channel 5 News & BBC Look North advising the general public on the dangers of high powered handheld laser pens. He has also been quoted in numerous newspaper articles including the Sunday Times, Daily Mail and the Sun Newspaper.
