Claremont shortlisted for major health award
A clinical team from Claremont Private Hospital has been shortlisted for an award at a prestigious healthcare industry ceremony.
Claremont Hospital, on Sandygate Road, has been nominated in the Nursing Practice category of the Laing and Buisson Independent Healthcare awards in recognition of the work of its Pre-operative Assessment team.
The Claremont team is one of four finalists in the nursing category and has been shortlisted for its Outreach Pre-operative Assessment service which was established in 2010 to support and assist patients requiring spinal surgery.
Patients are currently seen by the Claremont team on-site at their own local hospitals or health centres which include Doncaster, Stoke, Bakewell, North Staffordshire, Leeds and Wakefield. The team will discuss procedure, hospital stay, management of other medical issues, as well as carry out any necessary tests, samples and swabs, all in a quiet unhurried environment at the hospital and therefore close to the patient’s own home.
Claremont Hospital Director Andy Davey said: “Claremont Hospital has built its reputation over recent years, partly by improving its focus on the patient pathway. Part of this drive has included an attempt to provide one-stop clinics for patients where possible.
“This service, previously provided at GP surgeries, offers patients the benefit of not having to travel huge distances on repeated occasions in preparation for their admission.
“It is even more special to have Claremont announced as a finalist in this prestigious healthcare competition this year when we are celebrating our 60thanniversary.”
The Laing and Buisson Independent Healthcare Awards were established in 2006 and highlight acute and long-term healthcare teams and individuals from across the country who demonstrate excellence in quality and innovation. The winners will be announced at a ceremony at the Lancaster Hotel, London, in October.
